Firstly, good morning, secondly, this right next to me is an erupting volcano, that’s right, what you’re seeing is lava being spurted meters and meters high by an active volcano, because we’re in Iceland! Starting an adventure that I think will be one of the best of our lives, after all, we’re starting simply with a volcano erupting, it’s incredible. The best part is that it’s erupting, we’re seeing it, we’re showing it to you and it’s absolutely safe. You can continue traveling through this awesome country without any problem, because it’s far away, doing its thing and letting out a "little spark" while we’re here, ready to embark on an incredible trip, as we will get to know all Iceland from one side to another, we will take a car and drive along kilometers to show you the whole country. There will be volcanoes erupting, there will be other types of volcanoes, there will be ice caves, there will be waterfalls, canyons, there will be lots of great things. We are thrilled to be able to show you. I think we are lucky. We’ve arrived in this marvelous country, still figuring out our itinerary and what we were going to do, and bam: the volcano erupted! We rushed over to see it, and from here on out, there’s going to be plenty of great adventures ahead. Thus, if you are not subscribed to our channel, subscribe now, leave your like for this video, and of course, share it with your friends, because I’m sure this trip and everything that’s coming will be amazing! Let’s go explore Iceland with us from now on. We are in Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland. You may have already recognized this beautiful image, this stone church, an Iceland symbol. And our journey obviously starts here because this is where you arrive in Iceland. it’s the easiest route and probably where your trip will begin as well. You can get to Reykjavik in several ways, by plane or by ship. There is no direct flight from Brazil by plane, but there are some places where you can stopover in Europe. You can also do like us, take a Cruise and arrive in Iceland by ship. We embarked in London and came straight to Iceland. It was an incredible experience. If you haven’t seen that video yet, go watch it after you finish this one, it was an unforgettable trip. We passed through several countries, even Norway, it was wonderful. Then we arrived in Iceland, where we’re going to have a spectacular adventure, starting with Reykjavik, the capital. Many people don’t even visit the city, they usually arrive here, especially if it’s a short trip, lasting a week, and then start driving around Iceland. Don’t do that, the city is amazing, it offers a lot of things to do, you’ll get to know everything with us from now on. Let’s explore the capital of Iceland, Reykjavik. Now I really feel like I’m in Iceland, there’s no mistake, because we’ve finally arrived at Blue Lagoon, one of the most famous places in the world, the place I’m sure you’ve already seen whenever Iceland is mentioned, it’s this wonderful place, where the water is literally blue, naturally, as it’s full of properties. We’re in a place that’s practically a lava field, down here. Due to that, everything here is thermal, with properties that are good for the skin, for health, there’s even a mask for you to put on your face, anyway, it’s that kind of place that I don’t even need to explain. Blue Lagoon is the place you need to visit during your visit to Iceland. It’s easy to get here, we’re very close to Reykjavik, the capital, we drove for about 50 minutes, it’s a fast road, the only detour we had to take was a part of the road that was taken over by lava, the lava destroyed the road and then we took a detour to arrive at this paradise. Look at this place. We’ll explain everything to you, how it works, there are several types of tickets, so you can have a premium experience, with drinks. Just take a look at this panorama. Let’s enjoy it, the day is beautiful, I’m cold and I want to get into this warm water. Let’s go! One thing you need to know before coming to Blue Lagoon is the type of ticket you’ll choose. There are two types. The standard option, called Comfort, includes access, a towel, a drink and a regular facial mask as well, a silica mask. Well, there is also the premium ticket, which isn’t that much more expensive, we’re showing the prices here on the screen, and then, in addition to all this, you get a second drink, you get two more face masks of your choice, not just the basic one, there are different masks, which we’ll show and try out soon, plus, it includes a robe, so it’s definitely worth it since the price difference isn’t that big. Everything in Iceland is really expensive, so, if you decide to buy a drink separately, for example, or an extra mask, it wouldn’t be worth it. We have the premium package, and I want to show you something, do you see that kiosk right back there, that looks like a bar? It’s indeed a bar, but it’s a mask bar, look how cool. That’s where you get the masks for your beauty treatment. That’s what we’ll be doing shortly. The first one is the volcanic one, it is black, then there is the silica one, which is white, and then, there are two more options for you to choose. It can be either the anti-aging one, which is green, or the moisturizing one, which is between gray and white. In fact, they give you a large quantity, so what did we do? – We shared it! We shared it, I got one and we shared it, it’s perfect, and then we will try another one, this way we’ll use all four. And we finish with the moisturizing one. Excellent! While we’re applying the moisturizing mask, another thing I would like to tell you is, as the temperature drops, as it gets later in the afternoon, the smoke also increases. The steam, it’s not smoke. It’s the smoke that comes out of the water, it gets more intense, let’s see how it goes. Do you see this pizza oven behind me? Normally, when it comes to steam saunas, in English they’re called a steam room, meaning "the room of steam. But not here, folks, here it’s a steam cave, meaning "the cave of steam. You go in there, that’s a natural steam sauna, in the pizza oven. Let’s go! I’m going in. You’ll hear me saying this a few times along this video, but I’m thrilled with the adventure we will experience now, simply because only here can we have this adventure. And when I say here, I don’t mean here in Europe, or here in Iceland, I mean exactly here, right in this place. We will simply get inside a volcano. Exactly! This is the only volcano known on the planet that you can get inside, and it’s not just a little bit down, we will go down 120 meters inside this volcano. Have you ever imagined going on an adventure like this? That’s what we are about to do, we will show you everything along this tour called Inside the Volcano. Let’s go see what it’s like, I’m excited, I think it’s going to be awesome. We’re now inside the volcano, 120 meters below the crater, what we see here is surreal. Do you see that black mark back there? This is exactly where two tectonic plates collided, the American plate on this side and the European plate on the other. Everything here got filled with lava and BOOM, 4,500 years ago this volcano erupted, it was the only time it erupted, and today we have this impressive landscape as a result. Look at the crater up there. Will you be able to see it? It’s all lit up inside, so we are able to see all the colors, all the shapes, it’s surreal. Guys, we’ve already traveled a lot, that’s a fact, but I have to tell you that this is the first time in my life that I am inside a volcano. And as I’ve said, this is the only place on the planet where you can do this, so, as we are in Iceland, we couldn’t miss the chance to see a volcano from the inside and show you everything. I’m thrilled to tell you all about it. Look at the elevator going up with another group, it’s remarkable, we’ve never seen any scenery even similar to this, it’s a unique experience, and from here we can see how far we’ve gone down, it’s a stunning scenery indeed. And it’s really cool that all the colors we see here have meanings, they represent iron, sulfur, and silica that were present here. All these things mix together, and when it got really hot with the lava, it left these marks here on the wallswith colors like this. It’s breathtaking! Look at the elevator going up, how impressive, it looks like it’s from another world, doesn’t it? The whole experience lasts about four hours and costs 47,000 Icelandic kronur, about R$1.880,00 per person. Attention to this, you need to hike 3 km to get to the volcano, and then another three to get back, of course. This is an adventure that can be done from May to October. – I’m back! At the end, they serve lamb soup, a traditional Icelandic dish, to recover your energy. We’ve also found this cute little arctic fox, which always shows up around here. You’ve probably noticed that some places here in Iceland have names that are simply unpronounceable, haven’t you? They’re enormous words, that look more like alphabet soup. But more than that, beyond the letters from the Roman alphabet, it includes some unique symbols, like the ones we’re showing here on the screen. It’s definitely not an easy task for tourists to read, speak, or even type these names into their cell phones to search for. Does that mean it’s difficult to get around Iceland? Not at all, quite the opposite. The country is completely prepared for tourism, and everyone here speaks English. In addition, the signs along the way, menus, everything is in both languages, so, you can get around Iceland easily, but with one condition: you need to speak and understand at least basic English. That’s why Roseta Stone is once again our partner on this journey through Iceland. The platform combines native audio with various visual resources, making it much easier to learn and not forget later. Roseta Stone also has a voice recognition tool to give you feedback on your pronunciation. This is really important for those who use the language when traveling, like us. You can practice on your computer or on the mobile app, wherever you are. Lack of time is no longer an excuse, as classes only last ten minutes. More than that, what if you could learn not just one, but 25 languages, with a single lifetime access? With Roseta Stone, this is possible. Of course, you can choose a language to prepare for that trip and become fluent quickly by subscribing to the annual plan. But the Rosetta Stone’s game-changer is the lifetime plan, which gives you access to the entire platform. You can learn Spanish, French and even Japanese, Chinese, Arabic, Hebrew, all with access for the rest of your life, without paying anything else. You can learn at your own pace, without rushing, according to your needs. Furthermore, Viaje Por Conta followers get a 50% discount, even on the lifetime plan. I guarantee you, it’s much cheaper than you think. Do the following, access the QR Code on the screen, or click on the link in the video description and get your discount. The time is now. Let’s continue exploring Iceland, because there are countless incredible places coming up. I need to tell you about something surreal that happened. We arrived in Iceland, and as you know, a volcano erupted, a volcano that has been active in recent years. It erupted again about 2 or 3 years ago, and since then it has erupted several times. We’ve decided to come to the city park where the museum that celebrates Iceland’s nature is located, and we can see the red cloud right next to us, it’s the volcano erupting. Yes, it’s far away, it’s distant, but you can see it, you can really see that there’s a volcano erupting. While we were watching this volcano and this eruption, we started looking at the sky and saw some lights. "Wow, this sky is kind of strange, what could that be?" "How curious, there are some lights in the sky!" Then, these lights that at first looked almost like smoke, a cloud, started to get stronger, and they started to gain colors. Suddenly, we realized that we were simply seen the Northern Lights, and it is happening right now. But we came just to see the volcano, so here we are with two phones, watching this volcano, enjoying it, and at the same time, the Northern Lights are happening. We’ve taken countless photos, it is absolutely splendid. I would like to share these photos with you, because it is our first time seeing the Northern Lights. It is a dream come true, we knew this possibility existed, we really wanted it, and it happened. So here are the photos we took of the Northern Lights right here in the capital, folks here in Reykjavik, Iceland. The Northern Lights are a phenomenon that occurs in the northernmost regions of the planet. It’s a reaction between solar wind particles and Earth’s upper atmosphere. In the Southern Hemisphere, it’s called the Aurora Australis. And seeing it isn’t easy; you need both luck and patience. It’s easier in winter when the nights are long; the weather needs to be clear, with no clouds, and preferably in a darker location. And yes, cameras and cell phones see better than our eyes. It has to be very strong for us to see the different colors, otherwise we see better the shades of gray, white and lighter colors. With equipment, even the weakest lights provide an explosion of vibrant colors. Let’s talk a little about this beautiful building behind me, called Hallgrímskirkja church. For us it is almost impossible to pronounce the names of places in Iceland. On the cell phone is where we can at least hear the correct pronunciation, but the Hallgrímskirkja church is modern, it was built in 1986, and its style is no coincidence. It alludes to the country’s glaciers and mountains, which are many. You’ll see throughout our time here in Iceland that there are many formations resembling what we see here in the church. It’s spectacular, it’s located at the highest point of the city, it’s the city’s postcard, and we’re going to explore it all from now on. The visit inside the church is free, it’s totally worth it, but one thing you need to know is that you can also go to the top, there’s obviously a cost, but people say the view is remarkable. That’s what we’re going to do now, and you’re going to come with us. I’m excited, it’s a beautiful day, the sky is blue, the sun is shining. Let’s see what it’s like. Would you like to know the best part? There is an elevator. The church is high, but you don’t need to face the stairs, in fact, you go up to the clock and from there, there are 32 more steps to climb a little bit more, it’s really easy. It costs 1,400 Icelandic Kronur, according to my calculations it will be around R$56,00, everything here is expensive, R$56.00 to go up. 32 steps later, we reached the top, super simple. Before we show you the view, a curiosity, look what’s up here, a bunch of bells. Do you know how often they ring? Every 15 minutes, we’ll probably hear them playing. I’m worried that the sound will be too loud, as they’re really close. It’s a 360º view, it’s spectacular, let’s see all sides, I’m excited. It’s open here, so, come with a sweater, as the wind is strong. We’re against the sun, but we can see the beautiful sea, and on this other side we can see the city. Look at the downtown area, it’s awesome, take a look, the main street is down here, wonderful indeed. I’m going to take advantage of the church bells, this beautiful scenery, to give you a tip about mobility. Reykjavik is a city that you can easily explore on foot, it’s small, you can do everything you want on foot, in case you prefer to do it on foot, because we’re using another amazing means of transportation we’ve discovered here, and it makes perfect sense to travel this way around here, because the city is flat and pleasant. We’re getting around on electric scooters. It’s really easy, it works like this, you download the app, scan the QR Code, there are scooters spread throughout the city, you pay 39 kronur per minute, about R$1,50, go wherever you want, arrive at your destination, leave the scooter, end the ride on the app, and you’re charged for the time you used it. The scooter is convenient for short distances within Reykjavik, but on our trip to Iceland we will literally travel through the entire country, covering more than 2,000 km, to see incredible scenery. That’s not possible on a scooter, so, here’s another tip: you need to have a car, even for nearby spots like the Blue Lagoon and Inside the Volcano, which we’ve already shown. We did everything by car, because it gives us much more flexibility. And when we hit the road, that’s absolutely essential. Renting a car here is easy, you just need the passport and a valid driver’s license. You need to be careful though, because there are some peculiarities, that’s why we preferred to rent the car with a local company the Go Car Rental Iceland. For example, if you want to sleep in the car, something very common here, they have the appropriate vehicles for that. Ours wasn’t for sleeping, but since we had a lot of luggage and a lot of equipment, we chose a really big one, in order to travel comfortably. For some stretches, or some specific times of the year, you need a 4WD. They also have all the information for us don’t get into unnecessary trouble. An extra tip for you, we rented a portable Wi-Fi device along with the car, it helped a lot, especially with the GPS part, and also to stay connected in more remote hotels. Look at this spectacular building behind me, it’s the concert hall in Reykjavik, called Harpa. But I’m not here to talk about music with you, this is just the meeting point to have a very different experience. When you’re traveling to a unique place like Iceland, one of the most incredible things you can do is try the local cuisine, right? Well, that’s what we’re going to do now. However, we’re not just going to try something, we’re going to go on a gastronomic tour. It’s a famous tour here in this city, because you actually walk around the city and visit places that offer typical local food, you can only try them here and they really represent the country. We’re excited, because we love eating and trying new things. Today is sunny, it’s a beautiful day, but it’s windy, so, we enjoy getting inside these cozy places to try good typical Icelandic food. Come with us try everything. I think it will be great. Let’s go. First dish of the day, we will try fish, a classic here in Iceland called Arctic Char, which is actually an arctic trout, it is this one here, awesome. There are also other dishes, like this one, it’s like a cod puree, with potatoes, and several other things. We’ll put the names of the dishes here, because they’re very difficult to pronounce, but everything looks delicious. Anyway, it’s not just for you to try, you see that there is a huge piece of fish for you to eat. It’s great to do the tour in a group, everyone sits at the same table, shared dishes are served, and you end up making friends. It’s so much fun, guys! Let’s try this cod puree first. Oh my God, it’s so good, really smooth, delicious. Now let’s try the arctic trout, it smells delicious. It’s so crispy, it has a slightly sweet taste, and this crust is tasty. We’re having a good start indeed, and of course, we’ve chosen lunch time, so, we’ve started this tour at eleven, it lasts three hours, in other words, we’re going to have a wonderful lunch. They say you need to come with a wolf’s hunger… we are, so let’s dig in! At the second restaurant we’re going to try two appetizers. An interesting fact, the name of the restaurant means mountain woman, because this is the first restaurant founded by a woman in Iceland, how interesting. And here we have two appetizers. The first one is lamb, which is here with various sauces, lamb is traditional here, on top of a flat bread, a small bread from the region. On this other side, I will get a little closer, take a look, what do you think this is? Salmon? No, it’s not. This is arctic trout, which has a very similar color to salmon, look how interesting. Let’s try it. Now it’s time for us to get to know the unmissable restaurant in Iceland, the most famous, the most popular, the one everyone says you need to visit, Its unmissable. Do you think it’s a very fancy place? No, no, no, no, guys, it’s this right here, look, this little stand here, it’s a hot dog stand. Can you believe it, this place sells hot dogs, and it’s the most popular and most famous place in Iceland. To give you an idea, this hot dog here, sold in this kiosk, this small size, with just one guy making one hot dog at a time, is considered the best hot dog in all of Europe. Of course it’s part of the gastronomic tour, obviously everyone wants to try it. Now we’re going to see if it really lives up to the hype. I know it comes with a lot of toppings. We will find out everything now. No one knows why this hot dog is known as the best in the world, the fact is that a British newspaper once voted it the best in Europe. It seems simple compared to the ones we usually eat, with mashed potatoes, potato chips, corn and peas. This one has a lot less, it has raw onion, crispy onion, three sauces, ketchup, mustard, and a secret sauce. The difference is that the sausage is lamb sausage. Let’s see if it’s good? Let’s try it, let’s go. It’s good, the sausage is tasty, but I prefer the Brazilian one, I’m not going to lie. The fourth stop on our tour is here, at the Icelandic Bar, and here we’re going to try a very traditional Icelandic delicacy, really controversial, and that you can only find here. It’s a food that harks back to ancient times, to the time when here in Iceland you had to eat something to survive. In order to pay respect to these people and maintain the tradition in Iceland, they kept this dish in all the restaurants and bars. We will try it now. Do you know what it is? I’m taking a while to talk about it because it’s controversial, it’s rotten shark meat. That’s right, rotten shark meat. They say that the traditional one takes about a year and a half to rot before you can try it, and that it’s very difficult, as it smells really bad. We will try one that you can find in bars, it’s been rotting for three months only. Let’s try and see if it’s tasty then. Look, the shark has arrived here, you try it like a snack, a little square comes, like cheese, you pick it up on a stick, with a traditional beer from Iceland too. The tradition is like this, you raise it as if you were going to toast, put it in your mouth and chew five times, so you can taste it, and then swallow. Let’s see how it goes, I think I’m ready here. – Can I try it Tiago? – Go ahead! I forgot what the word is, you have to say a word in Icelandic, to toast, I’ll ask what it is… Skál! Despite the horrible smell, the flavor is not as strong as we expected. Would you dare trying it? The last stop on the Tour is for dessert, and with panoramic view, we try bread ice cream. Iceland is practically a volcanic field, so, there are hot springs everywhere, including here in the capital. If you are in Reykjavik you don’t have to go far to enjoy these benefits, these thermal pools, these warm waters, in this cold weather, even in the summer. We are here now in the one located right in the city. It took us ten minutes on a scooter to get here, from our hotel, in order to visit this place that they say is amazing, called Sky Lagoon, because they say that the volcanic pools meet the sea, so you have all those warm waters, one almost like an infinity edge, and the sea, so, they say that it provides the reflection of the water with the sky. Anyway, they say it is a beautiful fancy place, we will get to know it now and show you everything. Come on, I’m cold, I want to warm up, come with me. As soon as you arrive at the reception, you get this bracelet, which will be useful for everything, your keys, your wallet, to buy whatever you want, drinks, etc. And as I’ve said, it’s for the locker as well, everyone has the right to a locker. Look, it works, and it’s really big, come and see, it fits everything, we’ve put all our clothes, sneakers, there was still plenty of space left, it’s really convenient. You need to leave everything here, let me close it, everything is inside, because from here on it’s just water. We leave the changing room, walk down a beautiful stone corridor and then we get here, do you remember I’ve said there’s an infinity edge with the sea? As soon as we get here, we see it, look at this warm place, how different. As you can see, it’s windy, so, everything from here, up, is very cold, but from here, down, is warm. Come here, take a look at this scenery, there’s a waterfall over there, I’m sure it is hot, because look at the smoke coming out, do you see the smoke? There is this big pool over there, with the waterfall, and then, look at this other side, I’m loving it, do you see? Look over here, you can see the smoke coming out, people enjoying, with several stone benches here, awesome, and behind there is the spa, which we’ll visit later. There are five treatments in there for you to try, it’s through that little door. You can only go once, so we’ll explore here first and then head to the spa. But that’s it, let’s walk around a bit, because I’m loving it here. Look how amazing, there’s a bar, a real bar, inside the water, where you can get sparkling wine, beer, water, soda. And this is the cold pool. In fact, they say it’s frozen, it’s polar, that it’s close to the warm one, for you to change from one to another. I will try to get inside, I think I will die, it was a pleasure to meet you, let’s see if I can do it. Frozen! My God, torture. – Testimony, testimony. – I don’t want to say anything. Good heavens, this water is polar, my God. Wow. Then you come back here, and it feels like you’re burning up because of the hot water. But I got inside it, you can’t say I didn’t, because there’s even a record that I went inside the freezing water. The entrance fee starts at 10,490 Icelandic Kronur, which is R$419,00, or R$539,00 for the private changing room, the one we’ve showed you. Both tickets entitle you to the ritual, once, which is a sequence of saunas, baths, and a body exfoliation and hydration. It’s meant to leave you refreshed. Are you enjoying our visit to Iceland? Then, get ready, because the adventure has just begun. After exploring the capital region, it’s time to hit the road and explore incredible landscapes. We’re going to take a freezing dive between tectonic plates, enter ice caves, see incredible canyons, waterfalls, volcanic craters, a lagoon full of icebergs, and much more. All of this is subject for the next videos. Thus, if you’re not subscribed to the channel yet, subscribe now to be the first to know when new episodes are released. And don’t forget to turn on notifications, okay? Leave a like for this video, share it with your friends, and see you next time. Bye!
