Do you already know where I am talking about? Come with us and be amazed by all the charm of this place called Espírito Santo. Hello everyone, good morning, look at us starting a new adventure. I am very excited, because we are getting to know a state in Brazil we’ve never been before. I won’t make a mystery… look at this scenery behind me, the bay of Vitória, we are in Espírito Santo, a sensational place. It is really easy to get here, it’s a one-hour flight from Rio de Janeiro or Belo Horizonte, or one hour and a half from São Paulo, in other words, it is an easy trip. When you arrive in Vitória, you are immediately faced with a beautiful landscape like this one here behind me. It’s a safe destination, easy to get around, everything is very close, you can get from the beach to the mountains quickly. If you’re not subscribed to the channel, subscribe now, like this video, share it with your friends, and let’s get to know Espírito Santo with us from now on. You must be curious to know what is this incredible viewpoint from where we started the video with, right? Then, write it down now, because it’s one of the main postcards of the state: the Penha Convent. The first thing you need to know is that it’s not in Vitória, it’s located in Vila Velha, in the metropolitan region. Here is something interesting, Vila Velha is bigger than the capital, with almost half a million inhabitants. The two cities are connected by the Third Bridge, officially called Deputado Darcy Castello de Mendonça Bridge. It was opened in 1989, it took 11 years to be completed, it is the largest construction project ever undertaken in the state and one of the largest in Brazil. It is three kilometers and three hundred meters long and has 61 pillars. It is no wonder that it stands out in the landscape. Back to Penha Convent, after crossing the bridge we quickly reach the entrance. But it is located on top of a cliff, do you remember that? At 154 meters above sea level. You can take a walk, which is free, or use a van, which costs 6 reais to go up and down. Let’s start by taking a look inside the Convent, one of the oldest religious sanctuaries in our country. Construction work began shortly after the discovery of Brazil, around 1558. In 1569 the chapel received an image of Nossa Senhora, brought from Portugal. The interior of the chapel is covered mainly with carved cedar. On the altar, there are more than 200 pieces made of 19 different types of marble, originally in the Rococo style. Of course, in addition to visiting the inside, take some time to enjoy the incredible views from up here. On one side, Vila Velha, with its beaches, and on the other side, a panorama of Vitória, where we are heading to now. So, let’s cross the Third Bridge then, towards the capital. Considering this spectacular weather and this city with a huge coastline, we obviously would have to come to the beach. We are in such a special place, called Curva da Jurema. Take a look at this, this place is literally a curve, with many beaches, a beautiful view of the coastline, there are many restaurants and kiosks here, for you to sit, relax, enjoy the sea, and eat a very typical dish here in Espírito Santo, the famous Moqueca Capixaba. We want to start this trip on a big way, so we’ve decided to try this typical dish, which has already arrived, as you can see, and looks delicious. We’ve ordered shark and shrimp Moqueca, it smells wonderful, it comes with white rice, pirão, and juice to refresh, because it’s burning hot. But that’s what we want. When we come to a beautiful city like this, with a marvelous beach, of course we expect hot weather, good food and beverages. So, let’s eat, I’m hungry, and then, continue this wonderful trip. Jurema Curve is located between Boi Island and Guarderia Beach. In the middle is Frade Island, connected to the mainland by this bridge, where Canto Beach begins. Further in the background you can see the famous Camburi Beach, which we will visit later. A tip: spare at least half a day to explore this entire region, enjoy the beaches and play sports. In addition to the coastline, Vitória has several parks, for those who like to enjoy the outdoors and exercise, and the most famous park is the one we are in now, Pedra da Cebola Municipal Park. Why Pedra da Cebola? Why does it have this name? Of course, due to this rock behind me, right in the middle of the park, sculpted over time and today they say it has the shape of an onion. Do you hear that noise? Guys, I will show you what it is. It’s a peacock, right here, on a tree next to me, screaming like crazy. I swear I didn’t know that peacocks could fly up trees. Anyway, before I finish, I would like to ask your opinion: does it look like an onion or not? We have to be very creative to think that this rock looks like an onion, or am I wrong, you saw a big onion there right away? Tell me here, leave a comment. What a great day it was, I love tourism like this, when we discover several different spots in the city in a single day. Then, night fell, and we thought, what to do now? We’ve come to the beach, look how wonderful, we’re at Camburi waterfront, one of the most famous beaches in Vitória, look how peaceful and quiet, everything is lit up, a wonderful boardwalk for you to sit, relax, enjoy with friends, the beach on this side, here is a very busy avenue, it’s an urban beach where you can relax and enjoy. This is the region where we’re staying, there are lots of bars and restaurants around here, by the way, we are going to have dinner now. As you know, gastronomy is our thing, we’re here next to the waterfront, feeling this nice breeze, it’s a pleasant night, and we want to try several typical dishes from Espírito Santo. Obviously, we couldn’t miss trying the famous Capixaba Pie, which has already arrived here. Look at this, it is seafood pie, this you see up here is onion, to give it this unique appearance. In the middle of it there’s everything, there’s cod, there’s crab, sururu, oysters, there’s also hearts of palm and olives. We’ve never tried it, it’s unmatched, I’m looking forward to trying it. Here’s a tip, if you also like to try the local cuisine, there’s this Capixaba Pie, a must-try, let’s eat it. Starting our second day in Espírito Santo and the scenery has changed. I’ve told you that Espírito Santo is a diverse state. We left the coast and are now in the region of Espírito Santo mountains. Behind me is one of the state’s postcards, Pedra Azul. We are at Domingos Martins region, and this is Pedra Azul State Park, this huge rock behind me, 1,822 meters high. Why does it have this name? Because this rock has some lichens, and when it’s seen from afar, they give it a blue hue. However, did you know that depending on the time of year and the sunlight, it can have several other colors? It can even reach shades of orange. This is a State Park, visitation is free, it’s necessary to make a reservation in advance though, because as it is a conservation area, only 150 people can visit the park per day, so, book your visit in advance, come here and have access to an entire park for yourself, for free, and get to know one of the main Espírito Santo postcards. Let’s explore it then. We’ll start with a trail to see the rock up close. Let’s find out what else there is around here then. There are two trail options in the park: the partial circuit is about 1km long and takes you to the base of Pedra Azul and two viewpoints. It takes about 1 hour to be completed. For the complete circuit, which is 3.5km long and has a higher level of difficulty, spare 3 hours for the tour. In addition to visiting the enormous Pedra Azul, right here in front of me, we are at its base, another great attraction in the state park are the natural pools, located at the base of the rock. However, it rained last night, and there is a forecast of rain in a little while, there are some clouds coming, so, for safety reasons, these pools are closed today. They are at the end of the trail, so you need to walk on the rock, it won’t happen today, but I would like to give you another tip though: Do you see this beautiful landscape behind me? Well, here is another state park, called Forno Grande State Park, located in another municipality, called Castelo, about 50 minutes from here by car, there you can go hiking, there are waterfalls, and there are natural pools as well. There is no need to make a reservation, and these pools do not close, because unlike here, where the pools are at the end of the trail, there they are along the path, it is very safe, you can go there to have fun, to refresh, even if the weather is not so good. Then, in addition to visiting Pedra Azul Park, go to Forno Grande Park, another great tip here in the Capixaba mountain region. After the trail, you will probably get hungry, there are good restaurant options close to the park. We’ve decided to have lunch by the lake, with a view to Pedra Azul. We’ve ordered a filet mignon medallion with wine sauce and parmesan risotto, and a Carioca stew, with egg farofa and fried banana. The price of the dishes varies from 75 to 132 reais. On the way back, a stop in the center of Domingos Martins. The city still has traces of German colonization in its architecture. At the central square, a monument honors the immigrant settlers who helped build Brazil. Also noteworthy is the Evangelical Lutheran Church. The little market is the ideal place to drink a stylish cappuccino and enjoy some churros with dulce de leche. Starting our third day here in Espírito Santo, and take a look at this impressive image behind me. We are in Ibiraçu. And we’ve obviously come visit the statue of the Great Buddha of Ibiraçu, located close to the highway, on the sides of BR101. The visit is free, you can come here and admire the second largest statue of Buddha in the world. It is 35 meters tall, not counting the pedestal. In total, it’s 38 meters tall, losing just for a statue in Hong Kong, which means it’s the largest in the entire West. I need to give my personal testimony. The statue is truly beautiful. The Great Buddha, seated on a lotus flower, completely white, can be seen from afar. We’re seeing it from below, it’s wonderful, but I want you to see some more images from up there, because we’ve filmed it from all possible angles, for you admire this unmissable tourist attraction that was built and opened at the end of 2020, it’s recent, and it has already become a mandatory stop for everyone who comes to Espírito Santo. Let’s take a look at some more images then. You can see that it is not the only statue in the region. Take a look at this wonderful reclining Buddha, built in stone, the body is actually a stone. We are in a really pleasant place, that you should definitely include in your itinerary. As today is Sunday, we can also visit the Zen Monastery that is right next to the statue. It is an incredible place, a refuge built in the middle of the Atlantic Forest, and on Sundays, as I’ve said, you can visit it in the morning. I will keep walking for you to enjoy this wonderful place. This monastery has been around for 50 years. It was built by three Japanese monks who wanted to expand their religion, they came to Brazil, found this beautiful place in the middle of the Atlantic Forest, and said: this is it! Before, this place was completely devastated, they rearranged everything, replanted it, reforested it, and today it is this spectacular place that you can visit, feel spiritual, feel calm, enjoy it, it is a place of great peace, full of nature, open on Sundays, you need to include it in your itinerary. We are going to walk all around and show you everything, because it is truly worth it. I am going to calm down and clear my mind. Let’s go! This is the Path of Purification. There are 108 Torii gates in total, like this one, and according to tradition, when you pass through them, you make requests for purification and renewal of energy. These 108 Torii gates represent the 108 stones of the Buddhist rosary, how interesting. It’s an incredible path and a scenery that we see a lot in temples in Japan, for example. Our next stop is in Serra, the most populous city in Espírito Santo, more precisely in the district of Nova Almeida. Here we start the visit with the Church of the Three Wise Men, from the 17th century, considered an important example of Jesuit architecture. The facade is simple, with a single door, three upper windows, and a side bell tower. The interior has a roof with exposed beams, reminiscent of the bottom of a ship. It is the second most visited religious temple in the state, the first is Penha Convent. About 2 km far from the church we find a true spectacle of nature: the cliffs of Nova Almeida, about 20 meters high. For adventure sports fans, this is a great place to go paragliding, or simply enjoy a beautiful sunset. Tell me, did you enjoy our visit to Espírito Santo? Well, it’s almost over.
